Daily Insight: Coming Home

I’m going to go ahead and defer from my normal daily insight to go off on a bit of a tangent today. As much of you very well know I am a 2009 graduate of the best school in the world…yes Howard University. And this weekend we as Howard grads and all other random people who want to feel included will travel back to the Mecca to participate in the tweakend known as Homecoming. Now for those of you who do not know what a tweakend is it is a weekend in which you party your life away with minimal sleep a lot of good people and a whole hell of a lot of memories.

This brings me to my wise man quote of the day. A wise man once said “do you think about me now and then….cause I’m coming home again.” No matter how far and wide you may travel after your tenure at good ol HU you can count on coming back to the Hilltop to reconvene with friends, talk some ish, and party like it’s 1999. Howard has allowed me to meet some of the greatest people and have some of the greatest times in my short 23 years. Will I be back every year? I damn sure hope not, that would just mean I may need to fall back from the party scene a bit. But best believe I’ll be in there with my Alumni shirt stomping all over the newly cut grass on the yard, trying to avoid DC parking authority, rooting on a football team we know won’t win, eating fried fish and mac and cheese, running up to people I saw no more than 2 weeks ago screaming “I love yous”, sleeping 4 to a bed, house party hopping, standing in that long ass line in front of the Diner at 4am, and singing at the top of my lungs “I’m soooo glad I went to Howard U!”

So when the tweakend comes around every October don’t be afraid to stampede the good old Avenue of Georgia and create some more memories. I don’t know about ya’ll but I’m coming home again!
